The perfect vanilla shower routine

Nothing makes me feel better after a long day working, gymming and general household chores than my shower routine which I have perfected over the years. Aside from hygiene reasons, a shower is amazing to either pick you up in the morning or wind down in the evenings (or if you are like me, both!).
However, curating the ideal shower routine is an art within itself and if you are a perfume fanatic you know that the way to carry around a delicious scent all day long begins from the perfect shower routine, or in my case, a vanilla, bakery, gourmand smell.
Before shower dry-brushing
I love dry brushing, aside from exfoliating your skin and getting rid of those dead skin cells, it is key for boosting circulation and some lymphatic drainage. Studies have also shown that this is great for dry brushing. I have linked all products with each step! Click link here.

Cleanse
Once you hop into the shower, I would advise standing under the hot (or scalding) water just to open up those pores and wash away the dead skin cells you brushed away. Once this is done, I use exfoliating gloves and dettol soap bar (a MUST) to scrub everywhere. Dettol is my favourite cleansing soap and I prefer the original version which creates the perfect base for me before I continue with any other product. Click. to buy here.

Foam
Once I fully cleanse I like to create a nice base to layer the vanilla smell, so I like to lather it with Imperial Leather Moisturising Foamburst Jasmine & Vanilla Orchid and this has such a light vanilla scent which is not overpowering and is balanced nicely with Jasmine. It also works as a shaving foam and is extremely moisturising! Purchase here.

L'occitane
Now is the best part of the shower, which will have you feeling like a Vanilla, gourmand smelling goddess. Upgrading your shower routine with a luxurious product will give you the ultimate spa experience and since I purchased this, the game has been changed. The almond oil is embedded into your skin and when lathered, it turns into a nourishing foam texture and will intensify the oils and creams you will apply next. Click to buy here!

Body oil/cream
It has taken me a long time to find the best products which work for my skin, and also layer well with all my other smells, however I have a few that I alternate between. Now the most important part of this process is to ensure you are applying the oils/creams to damp skin. Where we have dry brushed, exfoliated and cleansed we do not want to over-exfoliate by using a towel which can create irritation. I would advise letting yourself air dry for a few minutes and then applying the products. My go-to for the time being is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Oil (purchase here) and the Aveeno Yogurt Body Vanilla and Oat cream.
The mixture the the cocoa butter and vanilla smell massaged into the skin will leave a heavenly deletable scent which will last for hours!

Wooden roller massage
We take body care seriously over here, and that doesn't just mean the products, but the tools also. Once I am moisturised and the creams/oils are 50% massaged in, I like to use a wooden roller massage all over just to stimulate blood flow which leaves your skin feeling plump and is great for avoiding cellulite. Purchase here.

Deodorant/Spray
My rule when using Deodorant is to use both a roller and a spray and they have to be the same brand/range. My two favourites right now are the Mitchum Shower Fresh range, and the Dove Vanilla range. I know the Dove products area bit controversial at the moment, with people claiming they do not smell like vanilla, however I really like how subtle it is. I personally don't think that deodorant is your main scent, so it really should not be a sickly vanilla as that wouldn't feel hygienic to me, We have to remember deodorant is simply hygienic, and not aesthetic. Perfume Oil
We are nearly there! I know you're think, how many steps are in this routine? We have to remember, smelling good (and for long) is a process, it's not a simply shower and go. Everything in your life should be romanticised and following a process, I would even say this part of my day is a reflective/meditative state, I genuinely think there is nothing more beautiful and feminine than cleaning and nourishing your body with gorgeous smells.
So the second to last part of this routine is a stunning perfume oil. You can also use a hair oil at this point if it hair wash day for you. My favourite and only perfume oil is the Sunnamusk Golden Dust, this sweet without being sickly and will sit on your skin the whole day. It creates a beautiful base, and will leave a lingering trail of smell wherever you go. If you purchase anything from this routine, I highly recommend it is this! Purchase here!

Perfume
And the finale! I always like to have two main perfumes, one for day and one for night. My current day perfume is Lattafa Eclaire which is a sweet, vanilla yummy smell which sits beautifully on the edible scents we have already applied. What I love about this scent is that it is straightforward vanilla and sometimes an uncomplicated smell is the best one. Click to purchase Lattafa here!

My current evening perfume is Burberry Goddess, this is not your gourmand obvious vanilla, it is very subtle and sexy, paired with lavender notes and similar to the foam burst we spoke about earlier. It is what it says on the bottle (literally) and will have you feeling like the goddess you are - purchase here and you won't regret it!

And that concludes the ultimate vanilla shower routine! As I mentioned before, we have the luxury to make every experience in our life beautiful. This includes your basic everyday which will elevate your everyday life, it may seem like a over-the-top routine, but I truly believe by romanticising your everyday will improve your life/wellbeing in general!
Hope you enjoyed and let me know what you think if you try out any of the products!
